A spindly graph fills much of the image area--between 1978 and 2012, there was a 1120% increase in college tuition and fees (blue-green). During the same period, the cost of medical care (dark warm grey) rose approximately 600%; the cost of shelter (light warm grey) rose about 350%; the Consumer Price Index (dark grey) rose about 270% and the cost of food (light grey) rose close to 250%.
